To be considered for appointment, prospective candidates must possess a minimum of a Certificate IV or Diploma in Welfare, Community Services or other related discipline together with a commitment to learning, and an interest in Family Support Programs, Family Law and Family & Children’s Services program streams.  A demonstrated ability to gather screening and assessment data so as to determine access to services is essential as are strong administration skills.  Other essential criteria include excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to engage and build rapport with people in crisis; well-developed organisation and time management skills and a strong customer service orientation.

The Role

The role involves the provision of Accessible Psychological Intervention (API) services to eligible clients with a diagnosis of mild to moderate mental illness.  The primary target group for the service is clients on limited income who live in the prescribed catchment area. The appointee will possess comprehensive experience and interest in the assessment and treatment of a variety of psychological conditions across a broad client group including children.  Key work tasks associated with this role include:

  • Provision of assessment & treatment by way of individual, group and/or family sessions;
  • Development of Psychological Treatment Plans (PTPs), Reviewing progress of PTPs and the outcomes of sessions, supports and strategies, and;
  • Referral of clients to alternative support services where appropriate.

Professional Qualifications

  • Registered as a Psychologist, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or;
  • Qualified and Registered as a Credentialed Mental Health Social Worker and eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration and experience in mental health.
  • Clinical experience working in a community-based setting is valued.
  • Previous experience working with families and/or children is highly desirable.

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

  • Assisting parents negotiate financial settlements when these present alongside parenting issues
  • Providing assessment in relation to the provision of Certificates as required by Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner Regulations
  • Facilitation of group programs where required.

Prospective candidates must be able to demonstrate registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner together with extensive career experience as an FDRP.  Knowledge of the effects of separation and divorce on families is essential as is an understanding of the concepts and philosophy of family dispute resolution including mediation and conciliation.  Other essential criteria include the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to issues as they arise, excellent communication skills, well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to rapidly build rapport with clients.  Candidates that can offer specialist expertise in working with family violence are particularly encouraged to apply.

Regional Services Manager – Mediation Services

FMC has recently completed an organisational development initiative that will ensure that our managerial structure is fit for purpose and aligned to strategic opportunities.  Central to our ongoing success is the appointment of a Regional Services Manager who will assume responsibility for driving best practice clinical governance and inspirational people leadership across our Chadstone and Ringwood locations.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Manager – Community Support Programs and specific areas of accountability will include:

  • Regional site operations management, including local service coordination across a multi-disciplinary team, and local administration
  • Clinical practice management including provision of clinical supervision, raising of ethical and therapeutic standards and professional development, and;
  • Delivery of therapeutic interventions for complex cases.

To be considered for appointment, prospective candidates must hold registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner together with tertiary qualifications in Family Law, Mediation or similar.  Demonstrable career experience as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner is essential as is extensive experience in clinical practice management (clinical supervision) of Mediators.  Well-developed leadership and emotional intelligence skills are essential as is a proven ability to engage others, influence organisational culture and provide strong direction.  Experience managing a multidisciplinary team would be a distinct advantage.

This position will have clinical practice oversight for Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners at our Chadstone and Ringwood offices in addition to overall site managerial responsibility across both sites.
