FMC Training Services is the training division of FMC Relationship Services, also known as The Family Mediation Centre. FMC has provided Family Dispute Resolution services for over 25 years. Our Practitioners have over 320 combined years of mediation, counselling and relationship education experience.
FMC is a leading training body in conflict resolution skills in Australia. Our trainers are highly experienced FDR Practitioners and industry leaders in dispute resolution initiatives. FMC has a proven track record for achieving highly successful outcomes for intact and separated families, young people and communities.
FMC Training Services also delivers the Vocational Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution as a Registered Training Organisation with full accreditation through the Attorney General’s Department.

Why the Vocational Graduate Diploma of FDR?
Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) is a specialised field where processes have been established and developed over time as a vehicle for building positive, practical and sustainable outcomes for families and children. The Attorney General’s Department requires that eligible candidates undertake specialised training and obtain national registration in order to practice in FDR as part of reforms to the Australian Family Law System. The Vocational Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution will enable you to apply to become a registered practitioner.

Why FMC Training Services?
Established in 1985, The Family Mediation Centre has provided FDR services along with delivering training, supervision and professional development across Australia. Our trainers are highly experienced Practitioners and industry leaders in initiatives such as Child Inclusive Practice and Conjoint Mediation and Therapy (CoMeT). As a registered training organisation, we are nationally accredited providers of the Vocational Graduate Diploma of FDR. FMC offers the full 10-units of the Vocational Graduate Diploma of FDR. Additionally, FMC can assess existing FDR Practitioners against some or all of the Vocational Diploma's requirements.

At FMC we are committed to ensuring that all of our Vocational Graduate Diploma students enter the FDR sector with confidence in their practical abilities.
Our course is designed to hone the theoretical elements covered in the course work with quality practical experience and supervision.
FMC’s student supervisors are highly skilled, nationally registered, practising FRDPs. With their Supervisor’s expert guidance Students will have the opportunity to experience all areas of FDR so that they are confident and ‘job-ready’ when the course concludes and are able to apply for registration with the Attorney General’s Department as an FDR Practitioner.
The Vocational Graduate Diploma of FDR at FMC...
At FMC the Vocational Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution is delivered over two semesters. Each semester comprises of 2-weeks of course work followed by a period of practical learning or "placement". The priority for placements is end-to-end case monitoring & exposure as this maximises learning opportunities & outcomes for students.

What is Mediation?

‘Foundations of Mediation’ has been designed to strengthen your negotiation skills & enhance your ability to prevent and respond to disputes.
FMC’s 3-day Foundations of Mediation training course provides a solid base in both the theory and practice of mediation. Participants will undertake interactive and practical exercises in order to develop the skills necessary to deliver mediation sessions. Our instructors will provide participants with valuable and practical feedback to assist in the development of Mediation skills.

FMC's Mediating Property & Financial Matters course has been designed to enhance & build the skills of existing Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners & those with a solid understanding of the practice of mediation. Students will receive vital training & informative handouts on Family Law Principles, Superannuation, Domestic Partners Property Settlements, Spousal Maintenance & Financial Checklists. Mediating Property & Financial Matters also offers examples of data collection & percentage splits in sample agreements along with an incredible opportunity to refine & hone your skills through live demonstrations & hands on practice.

What is Child Inclusive Practice?
Child Inclusive Practice (CIP) is a clinically focused intervention where child consultants employ specialised skills and techniques used to, gain an understanding of a child’s experience of family and separation and then to communicate this information back to the parents in ways that drive positive outcomes for children and their ongoing experience of separation.
What Does Training Involve?
This intensive 3-day course has been designed to hone and expand the skills of Child Practitioners to work with children within a FDR framework.
Participants are trained using innovative and highly interactive methods which provide them with a solid grounding in both the principles and practice of child inclusive work.
