Joining Therapy and Mediation:
This service has been set up by the Family Mediation Centre (FMC) to assist couples in a more comprehensive and effective way to plan for their future as parents, when their relationship with each other is, or appears to be, ending.
Many clients come to a mediation service or to a counselling or therapeutic service, but very rarely participate in both at the same time. Conjoint Mediation and Therapy (CoMeT) offers the joint skills of a therapist and a mediator, working together to help couples resolve disputes and improve their ongoing parenting of their children. The two staff in the room will from time to time ask different sorts of questions and may invite you to consider things in different sorts of ways combining both mediation and therapeutic perspectives. The intention of achieving agreements together will remain. At the same time, there will also be an opportunity to address some of the underlying emotional issues behind the matters in dispute.
As with all services provided by FMC, confidentiality will be strictly maintained in the new service, subject to the usual limitations.
At any time, you may request to revert back to the original service that you sought. Your involvement or non involvement in CoMeT will in no way affect your right to other services offered by FMC.
Fees and Appointments:
Your fee requirements and appointments will operate exactly as in the standard FDR program – the service will not cost you any extra and the same sliding scale of fees will apply.
Evaluation:
