Regional Services Manager – Mediation Services

The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Manager – Community Support Programs and specific areas of accountability will include:

  • Regional site operations management, including local service coordination across a multi-disciplinary team, and local administration
  • Clinical practice management including provision of clinical supervision, raising of ethical and therapeutic standards and professional development, and;
  • Delivery of therapeutic interventions for complex cases.

To be considered for appointment, prospective candidates must hold registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner together with tertiary qualifications in Family Law, Mediation or similar.  Demonstrable career experience as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner is essential as is extensive experience in clinical practice management (clinical supervision) of Mediators.  Well-developed leadership and emotional intelligence skills are essential as is a proven ability to engage others, influence organisational culture and provide strong direction.  Experience managing a multidisciplinary team would be a distinct advantage.

This position will have clinical practice oversight for Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners at our Chadstone and Ringwood offices in addition to overall site managerial responsibility across both sites.

The position of Child and Family Practitioner forms part of FMC’s Family Mental Health Support Service (FMHSS) with the appointee providing early intervention support to vulnerable families with children and young people who are showing early signs of or are at risk of developing mental illness.  Key work tasks associated with this role include the provision of:

  • Intensive, long-term early intervention support (informed by a child-centric, family systems approach);
  • Short-term information, referral and assistance for families and carers, and;
  • Community outreach, mental health promotion/education and community development activities.

To be considered for appointment to this role, prospective candidates must possess an appropriate tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences or other related field together with relevant professional work experience in the mental health field.  The appointee will possess demonstrated experience in providing assessment, case management and support to children, young people and their families in the context of mental illness and a proven ability to demonstrate resilience in the face of complex client risks and systemic challenges.  Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential as are sound engagement and rapport building skills.  Strong needs and risk assessment skills are also essential together with the ability to work both individually and as part of an integrated team.

  • Receive and respond to general inquiries and referrals by telephone
  • Receive referrals into FMC
  • Undertake initial screening assessment to determine need and service pathway
  • Provide information, advice and referral to those requiring counselling or dispute resolution
  • Assist with the determination of the priority of response.

The Role

The role involves the provision of Accessible Psychological Intervention (API) services to eligible clients with a diagnosis of mild to moderate mental illness.  The primary target group for the service is clients on limited income who live in the prescribed catchment area. The appointee will possess comprehensive experience and interest in the assessment and treatment of a variety of psychological conditions across a broad client group including children. The service is primarily delivered onsite at the Ringwood site with some outreach. Key work tasks associated with this role include:

  • Provision of assessment & treatment by way of individual, group and/or family sessions;
  • Development of Psychological Treatment Plans (PTPs), Reviewing progress of PTPs and the outcomes of sessions, supports and strategies, and;
  • Referral of clients to alternative support services where appropriate.

Professional Qualifications

  • Registered as a Psychologist, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or;
  • Qualified and Registered as a Credentialed Mental Health Social Worker and eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration and experience in mental health.
  • Clinical experience working in a community-based setting is valued.
  • Previous experience working with families and/or children is highly desirable.

This position is available on a full-time basis based in Ringwood with outreach as required. Candidates seeking part time employment are welcome to apply.
