The position holder provides psychological counselling services to individuals, couples and families. Key work tasks associated with this role include:

– Provision of clinical counselling services to a broad range of clients;

– Providing appropriate information and referral for parties, including referral to other programs within FMC;

– Working closely with other FMC staff in developing a coordinated and integrated approach to assisting clients to resolve relationship difficulties effectively, and;

– Undertaking marketing and networking related activities on behalf of FMC so as to promote the availability of this service.

To be considered for appointment to this role, prospective candidates must possess tertiary qualifications in Psychology, hold current registration with the Australian Psychology Board and possess and active provider number with Medicare. The appointee will possess extensive counselling experience with adults, couples and families; counselling experience with children would be a distinct advantage. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential as is a willingness and ability to build a client base from local referral agents.

This position is available on a part time basis, 3 days per week consistent with (24 hpw/0.6FTE). Evening work (until 8:00pm) will be required one night per week, currently on a Thursday.

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

Applications are now invited for the position of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner based at our Wyndham Vale/Werribee site.  The appointee will be responsible for providing family dispute resolution services (mediation).  Specific work tasks will include:

  • Identifying problem-solving options and strategies and providing assistance in clarifying clients’ problems and disputes
  • Assisting parents negotiate sustainable and workable parenting plans
  • Assisting parents negotiate financial settlements when these present alongside parenting issues
  • Providing assessment in relation to the provision of Certificates as required by Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner Regulations
  • Facilitate group programs where required.

Prospective candidates must be able to demonstrate registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner together with a proven ability to work within Family Law Act.  Knowledge of the effects of separation and divorce on families is essential as is an understanding of the concepts and philosophy of family dispute resolution including mediation and conciliation.  Other essential criteria include the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to issues as they arise, excellent communication skills, well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to rapidly build rapport with clients.

This position is available on a part time basis (0.66 FTE) and will require evening work one night per week (until 8.00pm) currently on a Thursday.
