The position of Child and Family Practitioner forms part of FMC’s newly established Family Mental Health Support Service with the appointee providing early intervention support to vulnerable families with children and young people who are showing early signs of, or are at risk of developing mental illness. Key work tasks associated with this role include the provision of:

  • Intensive, long term early intervention support (including targeted therapeutic group work);
  • Short term information, referral and assistance for families and carers, and;
  • Community outreach, menthols health promotion/education and community development activities.

To be considered for appointment to this role, prospective candidates must possess an appropriate tertiary qualification (minimum Cert IV) in a relevant discipline such as Mental Health, Youth Work, Social Work and/or behavioural science. The appointee will possess demonstrated experience in providing assessment, case management and support to children, young people and their families in the context of mental illness and previous experience in working across culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential as are sound engagement and rapport building skills. Strong needs and risk assessment skills are also essential together with a teamwork orientated approach and the ability to develop creative solutions to situations as they arise.

This position is based in our Frankston office and is available on a full-time basis.

The appointee will work closely with the Executive Manager of Brand, Digital and Corporate Communication in the implementation of business development activities with a focus on seeking out new opportunities for business growth and partnerships.  Specific work tasks include:

  • Developing and executing a grant development plan
  • Sourcing and evaluating grant opportunities
  • Conducting research to identify potential funders in new and existing markets
  • Identifying, targeting and developing business relationships that are aligned to the growth of the organisation
  • Reporting on new business, expanded activities and business prospects.

To be considered for appointment to this role, prospective candidates will require tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline  and/or equivalent relevant experience.  Previous experience in the preparation and implementation of a business development strategy aligned to the growth agenda of a community services  organisation is is highly desirable  as is demonstrable experience in leveraging the value of relationships and partnerships to drive revenue and increase business.

 

The successful candidate will have good experience in grant writing and a proven ability to complete funding applications.  Naturally, the appointee will possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills; excellent tender writing skills and persuasive writing expertise and highly developed relationship management and networking skills.  Sector knowledge gained across family, aged and/or support services particularly in relation to policy, funding and reform would be a distinct advantage.
